Mercury-Free Pharmacies
As a way of closing the loop on mercury, HCWH has urged all major pharmacy chains to phase out the manufacture, distribution and sale of mercury-containing devices. At least 91% of chain pharmacies and the top ten largest pharmacy chains in the United States have stopped selling mercury fever thermometers as a result. By removing a significant source of mercury from their shelves, pharmacies are helping customers and communities to reduce the potential harm that mercury causes to people and wildlife. The following is a list of pharmacies in the U.S. that have already gone "mercury-free."
